Excellence in training

Swiss educational institutions are renowned the world over for their performance in research, innovation and academic excellence. The latest rankings from the IMD World Talent Ranking 2023, the European Innovation Scoreboard 2023 and the QS World University Rankings confirm the quality of Swiss education.

Finally, the learning methods used in Switzerland are based on a holistic approach, enabling students to acquire both theoretical knowledge and operational skills. This is reflected in the IMSG's choice to develop the school-company duality.

Excellence in quality of life

One aspect that is far from negligible when choosing a business school is quality of life. The WEF's latest Global Competitiveness Report highlighted Switzerland's infrastructure, commitment to environmental stewardship and the general well-being of its citizens.

The City of Calvin is a veritable crossroads of cultures and languages. Home to over 40 international organizations, 180 permanent missions and some 750 NGOs, it offers a multitude of advantages for students seeking a top-quality education in an international context.

Financing assistance

EDUCA SWISS, a Swiss non-profit foundation, promotes equal opportunities in education. It supports people in Switzerland wishing to pursue an education without sufficient financial means. Its approach combines free coaching and low-interest loans.

EDUCA SWISS aims to make education accessible to all, regardless of financial situation or social background. The foundation takes into account the individual's overall situation and only supports educational projects with loans when repayment is realistic, in order to avoid over-indebtedness.

EU/EFTA nationals

Students from the European Union or the European Free Trade Association must register with the local population control authorities within 14 days of their arrival in Switzerland in order to obtain their residence permits.

They must also certify that they have taken out health insurance and are able to support themselves financially. They must prove that they are in Switzerland to study, and that they are enrolled at a recognized university or college.

The residence permit is generally issued for the duration of the studies, but may also need to be renewed each year, depending on the student's situation.

Students are allowed to work, but for no more than 15 hours a week. Beyond that, they are considered taxable and must obtain a residence permit appropriate to their situation.

The spouses of people studying in Switzerland, and their dependent children, have the right to live and work in Switzerland. However, students must prove that they have the financial means and the space to accommodate their family.

Third-country nationals

Students from non-EU/EFTA countries (third countries) must enclose a study plan with their application, specifying the objectives and type of training (Maturité, Bachelor's, Master's, etc.).

They must also produce a written attestation from the school confirming that they are authorized to attend the school and that they have the necessary language skills.

Students from countries requiring a visa must also apply to the Swiss embassy or consulate in their home country.

This application requires confirmation of admission from the educational establishment, proof that the student can pay for school and living expenses, a written undertaking that he or she will return to his or her home country after studies, and a curriculum vitae.

The Swiss representation in the country concerned determines whether the applicant has a sufficient command of the language required for his/her stay at school. The cantons are responsible for issuing residence permits. It is therefore up to them to provide detailed information on these formalities.
